Your Poker Deception starts with Marketing

If you want to invite players in the game, you have to make it appear as if it's carefree, relaxed and pleasant. Otherwise, many players would be intimidated by your circle. In fact, you even have to pretend that you're a poor and loose player, who appears to care more about the social aspect of the game than winning money. Now, why do you have to do this? For one thing, if you want to be advantageous, you shouldn't slack around and start building strategies only when the game begins. You should start even before the games starts. And as early as possible, be deceptive to your opponents the moment you meet them. Be deceptive even with your invitation.

The most appealing aspect of the game is how you present its atmosphere. Here's how to do it:

A Carefree Circle

With a carefree atmosphere, invited players would almost always translate this as a careless circle who don't have respect with money and plays poor poker. At the start of the game, you can show a carefree attitude by increasing the betting pace, by complicating the game, by using chips instead of cash, and by appearing careless about what's at stake. Of course, these are just ploys to lure a potential player to play. This is all a planned act so that when the player does join, he'll downgrade you erroneously and lose at that conviction.

A Relaxed Environment

With a relaxed environment, you make the players feel distracted with their comfort to the point that their concentration decreases, which in turn, diminishes their playing abilities. To be able to make a relaxed atmosphere, you have to choose a suitable environment to play in; serve good food and beverages; use a comfortable setting like an octagonal table, cushioned seats and cool lighting. But beware. To avoid getting comfortable yourself, you have to be some sort of a Buddhist monk to maintain your concentration. Deny yourself from the effects of relaxation and comfort.

A Pleasant Setting

The effect of a pleasant atmosphere is mostly maintenance of the game. It prevents weak players from leaving the game and it captures new players to join in. You can create a pleasant atmosphere by being congenial, by preventing unpleasant remarks and arguments among players, and by displaying concern toward losers. Most of all, players see a pleasant atmosphere when they feel welcomed to the group. And they stay because they feel that they belong with the circle. The additional advantage of a pleasant setting is that losers don't feel they're losing money from the one who organized it.
